The College of Music and Media celebrated many milestones in the fall semester, such as winning our first Edward R. Murrow Award and being named a Top Billboard Music Program.

The public enjoyed an evening of traditional Jazz at Loyola’s inaugural concert honoring Connie and Elaine Jones in September. The Connie Jones Legacy Band, which features musicians who played with Jones throughout his career, performed in Nunemaker Auditorium, with Ed Wise, bassist and Loyola faculty member, leading the ensemble.
The School of Music and Theatre Professions at Loyola University New Orleans once again ranks as one of the top music business schools in the world, taking its place among some of the finest collegiate music programs for the third year running.
The Department of Theater Arts and Dance hosted the premiere of ‘God Help Them if We Wake Up,’ a powerful feminist drama from playwrights Ann Mahoney and Gillian Shelly, in November in Marquette Theatre.
Loyola students majoring in Popular and Commercial Music, Hip Hop and R&B, and more took to the stage this month at Tipitina's to tackle their final performances of the semester and enjoy the chance to play in a professional music venue.

Retired Col. John R. Bourgeois spent nearly his entire career as a member of the U.S. Marine Band, “The President’s Own,” serving the latter 17 years as its director.
Now, he helps to bring selected students together to play in the Loyola Bourgeois Honor Band, where they perform in an annual concert with the Loyola Wind Ensemble.

The School of Communication and Design welcomed local high school students to Loyola this past summer for the SCD Experience – comprehensive, week-long boot camps exposing them to a variety of communication and design careers.
This semester you can support our talented students in a variety of ways whether it's at a Jazz Underground Series or Loyola Opera show.
The end of the semester brings us festival season, theatre performances, the Den of distinction just to name some of the events.
In the Summer we have the SCD experience from the School of Communications and Design- a comprehensive boot camp that exposes high school students to careers in motion design, graphic design, book arts, UX design, photography, design thinking, game design, journalism and film.
