The senior, who is from Houston and majoring in graphic design, received an honorable mention and a $750 scholarship for her work.
This is the first time a student from Loyola has won this honor, said Daniela Marx, chair of Loyola’s Department of Design. The other students chosen to receive scholarships hail from some of the most prestigious art schools in the country, including the Rhode Island School of Design, the Parsons School of Design and the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Students applying for a AIGA Worldstudio Scholarship must be pursuing or planning to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree in photography, illustration or graphic design.
According to AIGA, the Worldstudio Scholarships aim to increase diversity in the design profession by creating equitable opportunities for the next generation of creative talent. Awarded annually, the scholarships encourage social and environmental responsibility, and cultural awareness in the next generation of artists and designers.
In all, AIGA received 311 applications, with 14 receiving a total of $36,250 in scholarships.
