Students from across the region learned from top-notch educators and industry experts about professional opportunities in motion design, graphic design, book arts, UX design, photography, design thinking, game design, journalism and film, said Daniela Marx, chair of Loyola’s Department of Design.
The hands-on workshop is designed to challenge and inspire high school students – rising 9th through 12th graders – to explore a variety of methods and media, while engaging in a process that is collaborative, thought-provoking, and imaginative, Marx said.
Students chose one area of focus in the morning and another in the afternoon, though they explored all the programs over the course of the week, she said. The classes took place in new studio spaces complete with state-of-the-art technology and equipment.
Students needed no prior knowledge of the subject areas to participate in the SCD Experience, just an open mind and a curiosity about the world around them, Marx said. Anyone interested in developing skills and creativity through hands-on experiences was welcome to register, she said.
