Happy New Year,
We are moving into 2024 with momentum, a heart of gratitude, and a spirit of determination.
The College of Music and Media celebrated many milestones in the fall semester, such as winning our first Edward R. Murrow Award and being named a Top Billboard Music Program.
The world’s largest organization dedicated to broadcast and digital journalism honored The Maroon with the prestigious Murrow Award for its environmental podcast, “Engulfed.”
Loyola students Rae Walberg, Domonique Tolliver, and Brendan Heffernan researched, reported, and produced the four-episode podcast premiered in September 2022. The idea for the podcast came to Walberg after reporting on a local organization’s efforts to combat industrial pollutants in St. James Parish, Louisiana, and the devastating health hazards that ensued.
The School of Music and Theatre Professions once again ranks as one of the top music business schools in the world, taking its place among some of the finest collegiate music programs for the third year running.
We are pressing forward but couldn't do it without your support.
Please add giving to the College of Music and Media to your "new year, new you" goals. Your financial support allows us to send students to New York for advertising week and upgrade the evolving equipment needs in the J. Michael Early Studio and our music studios. We can't give our students a world-class experience without your generosity.
This newsletter is full of updates and reasons to give.
I hope you enjoy it.
Loyola Love,
Dr. Haydel
