Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg and the Loyola Strings

Acclaimed violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg performs with the Loyola Strings. The Loyola Strings is an ensemble of student musicians who rehearse and perform together without a conductor as part of their academic training at the university. The ensemble includes music majors, as well as students who continue to study a string instrument while enrolled in other of Loyola's degree programs.

The April 21 concert gives a nod to dance. Program includes:

  • Michael Daugherty’s "Strut"
  • Brahms’ "Hungarian Dances 5 and 6"
  • Irish jigs from "St. Paul's Suite" by Gustov Holst
  • "Danny Boy" from Percy Granger’s "Irish Tune"
  • Happy Birthday Variations, its tricentennial gift to New Orleans.
