Alice Clark

Alice V. Clark is a scholar whose work focuses on the motet in late-medieval France.  She has contributed to publications such as The Cambridge History of Medieval Music and The Cambridge Companion to French Music, and her articles appear in journals such as Plainsong and Medieval Music and the Journal of Musicology.  In addition to her work as a medievalist, she has presented papers on various topics related to teaching, and she has published an article reading Giacomo Carissimi’s Jephte (c. 1648) through the lens of Jesuit spirituality.  At Loyola, Dr. Clark teaches a broad range of courses in music history and medieval studies, both for music majors and for the Loyola Core, including the First-Year Seminar and Honors Programs.  She has received University Senate awards for both teaching and advising.
