Brent Echols serves as Interim Director of Bands at Loyola University New Orleans where he conducts the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Chamber Winds, teaches undergraduate courses in conducting and music education, and oversees all aspects of the band program.

Prior to his post at Loyola he pursued a Doctor of Arts degree in Wind Conducting at Ball State University as a student of Dr. Thomas Caneva where he assisted with all aspects of the University Bands as well as guest conducting the Trumpet Ensemble and New Music Ensemble.

As a twofold graduate of Michigan State University, Brent completed the Bachelor of Music Education degree and Master of Music degree in Wind Conducting where he studied with Dr. Kevin Sedatole.

As a graduate assistant with MSU Bands, Brent guest conducted the MSU Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, Concert Band, and assisted with the Spartan Marching Band and Spartan Brass.

Prior to his Master’s degree, Brent taught in the Florida public schools as the Director of Bands at Plantation High School where he coordinated all aspects of the band program. He also served as the Percussion Director and Assistant Band Director at Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas.
