Scares were in the air as students celebrated Halloween in the first ever “Monster Mash” event hosted by the School of Communication and Design. The event was filled with festivities such as pumpkin carving, pie eating contests and apple bobbing among others. Students and faculty members enjoyed delicious food, danced to great tunes and enjoyed a special afternoon surely like no other.
The event was also a great way for students to mingle and get to know more about different organizations in the school. “I think it’s a great way to bring in our SCD community and get them involved in all the great organizations we have to offer like the wolfpack wardrobe and NABJ” said Maleigh Crespo, English major sophomore. “It’s a wonderful experience and I’m very happy to meet and mingle with everyone here” said Crespo.
Students were encouraged to network with each other during the event. “The SCD department is actually really good at connecting students with organizations. Said Ashlyn Bobb, Digital Filmmaking sophomore. “There are a lot of opportunities created by the department to develop yourself outside of the classroom and advance your skills & talents,'' said Bobb, representing a newly founded card game club at Loyola.
Faculty also participated in the festivities by dressing up in costumes and enjoying the event. “This monster mash is so much fun for bringing students from all majors in our college together.” expressed Dr Cathy Rogers from the SCD department. “ This is just the kind of thing we need because it aligns with Loyola’s personality and community” expressed Dr Rogers on how the event was a great success for bringing students and faculty together in a day of fun.
