Second "Blue Day" Concert for Music Industry Alumna

Written by:

Six Loyola Music Industry students dazzle the audience in Nunemaker Hall with “Blue Day” presented last Wednesday October 19. Acts included Dami, Elena Izquierdo, Royale, Gabe Parson & The Heartland and Treniti. Featuring horn ensembles, choreography, timed comedy and lights, this was an amazing show for great cause. With varying music genres and performance styles there was truly something for everyone. Students are really beginning to hone their craft and tap into their artistry.

"Blue Day" is a concert series that raises money for 2020 school of Music Industry alum, Ella Blue, who is currently undergoing medical issues and needs financial assistance. As stated in the Gofundme set up for Ella, "Ella caught COVID in December of 2021 and has been dealing with a wide array of medical mysteries in the 8 months since then. Her symptoms included fainting multiple times a day, swelling in her tongue and throat leading to Anaphylaxis daily, losing 30 pounds in just 7 days, and abnormal heart rhythm, to name a few. The situation went from concerning to critical over the last two months.

After months of doctors appointments, tests, and misdiagnosis, Ella finally got diagnosed with POTS Disease and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome with symptoms including Angioedema (swelling under the skin), Urticaria (severe rashes and hives), Gastronomy Issues, and Anaphylaxis, along with many others. She found out that she has had these illnesses her entire life, but they remained dormant until COVID came into her system and triggered them."

Spearheaded by Noa Jamir, Mia Day & Rocky Leonard, “Blue Day” serves as a fundraiser with all proceeds going to help out a beloved alumna. This is the second of an ongoing series, with the first concert being held on September 14 featured  Mia Day, Noa Jamir, Mynthia, Rocky Leonard, & Destiny Manzella.

The goal is to have an ongoing monthly event to raise the most money and awareness possible for Ella’s condition.

Donations are $5 minimum at the door and all proceeds go straight to helping upset some medical bills.
