The Loyola Department of Theatre Arts & Dance (TAD)’s production of Diana Son’s play, Stop Kiss opens this Thursday, March 18 in the Lower Depths Experimental Theater. Directed by TAD’s Artistic Director Salvatore Mannino and TAD alumna Baylee Robertson, this production features a cast of four who have been creatively staged to remain socially distant but still capture the intimacy of the show’s moments. This production has been a true collaboration of artists with a design team made up almost entirely of TAD students guided by TAD and professional consultants. Stop Kiss also has an understudy cast that will have its own performance night on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.
Stop Kiss will run March 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 26, and 27 at 7:30 P.M. This event is free, but only open to Loyola students, faculty, and staff in compliance with University policy regarding guests on campus. Tickets are extremely limited. You can read more about University Covid Guidelines here.
Stop Kiss, written by Diana Son, is a play about unanticipated love, and the sometimes harsh realities of new romance. Stop Kiss follows Callie and Sara, a vibrant couple, who become the victims of an abhorrent hate crime. Stop Kiss explores the social progress on LGBTQIA+ rights, and shines a light on our past in an effort to promote awareness and empathy in our society today.
