The Loyola Department of Theatre Arts and Dance welcomes Dr. Jamie Hipp to the Senior Colloquium course. Dr. Hipp will be conducting workshops throughout the semester on educational theatre jobs and the life of a theatre educator.
Jamie Hipp, Ph.D. is a learning specialist and national facilitator/trainer. Using her PK-20 teaching experience, including seven years with the East Baton Rouge Parish Public School System, she presents frequently on arts-based pedagogy and creative learning at the national level. Recent national presentations include workshops developed and facilitated for national conferences/conventions.
Her publications have been featured in Inside Higher Education, Youth Theatre Journal, Principal Communicator, Literacy Today, STEAMed Magazine, Literacy Daily, Ed. Prep Matters, and The International Journal of Research on Service Learning in Teacher Education.
Dr. Hipp is also an adjunct professor at Louisiana State University where she teaches the EDCI 2271 “Arts in the Elementary School” courses to all pre-service candidates in the elementary teacher education program. She served as a Louisiana A+ Schools arts integration Fellow for five years, facilitating full-faculty professional development across dozens of schools in Louisiana.
Prior to beginning her career in arts education, Dr. Hipp performed as a professional actress/singer/dancer internationally with Disney Cruise Line and regionally with Wild Adventures Theme Park. She also has experience with acting for film and television (stand-in work and commercial acting).
