Professor, Music Therapy and Piano

Tom Petterson is a board-certified music-therapist (MT-BC) and holds NICU-MT certification. He has clinical expertise working with adults and adolescents within inpatient and outpatient mental health settings, primarily at the Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic of Pittsburgh, PA. He also has experience working with children and young adults with special needs, frequently within adaptive music lessons.

Mr. Petterson has previously served as a faculty member at Slippery Rock University, where he taught music courses and piano lessons within the Department of Music. In addition to teaching music therapy and class piano courses at Loyola, Mr. Petterson serves as a piano instructor within the Loyola Preparatory Arts program and is a part-time staff accompanist for the university. He also maintains an active piano studio in the community, teaches early childhood music classes, and serves as musical director for various music theater productions and workshop classes in New Orleans.
