QUIANA GREENInstructor, Voice
Born and raised in a small town in west Texas, Quiana realized that music was a way to connect to the rest of the world. Brought up in the world of gospel but also classical trained as a vocalist, she grew an appreciation for all types of music and found her own voice through jazz.
Quiana graduated with a degree in music from Louisiana State University, where she learned to harness her voice as a true instrument and perform various genres of music with precision and validity. After graduating, Quiana made a splash in the New Orleans jazz scene, where she shared the stage with headliners including Herlin Riley, Roderick Paulin, Don Vappie, and Mitchell Player. She has performed at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival on multiple occasions.
Despite an immersion into the world of jazz, Quiana has still remained true to her classical roots, and has appeared as the principal soprano with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra. She has also received rave reviews for her features in several New Orleans and Baton Rouge musicals.
Besides her work as a performer, arranger, bandleader, and songwriter, Quiana discovered another passion: vocal education. She is the creative force behind “Made in America: Lyrically Speaking,” a program found in clinics nationwide that delves into jazz, blues, and traditional American music from the vocalist’s perspective.
In 2016, Quiana joined Loyola University New Orleans as a private vocal instructor.
