EBONEÉ DAVIS

Instructor, Voice

Soprano Eboneé Jewel Davis offers a wealth of education and experience to vocal students enrolled in her private lessons. A New Orleans native, Eboneé received both a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Music degree from the University of New Orleans, as well as a performer diploma in classical voice from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.

After completing her education, Eboneé was featured as a young artist with EPCASO, the Ezio Pinza Council for American Singers of Opera. Through this program, Eboneé lived in Oderzo, Italy, where she received extensive Italian language training and coached repertoire and technique with Claudia Pinza, Maurizio Arena, and Enza Ferrari.

Eboneé discovered a passion for operatic performance, and has appeared on the stage in the roles of Clarice de Noyan in William Grant Still’s Minette Fontaine, as well as the role of Vi in Gershwin’s Blue Monday. She was also featured as both a soloist and chorister with the New Orleans Opera Association in their 2002 production of Porgy and Bess. She subsequently performed with the company as a chorister in their productions of Tosca, Cavalleria Rusticana/I Pagliacci, and La Traviata. Ebonee has also appeared as a soprano soloist in Schubert's Mass in G, as well as Bach cantata 140 “Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme.”

Currently, Eboneé is the principal soprano and a board member of OperaCréole, a New Orleans-based opera company that specializes in performing the music of Creole composers and others of the African diaspora.

She also works as an instructor of voice and piano in Loyola University New Orleans’ Preparatory Arts Program, and maintains a private voice studio. Eboneé remains committed to her own vocal education, and still studies with Dr. Raquel Cortina, her long-term voice teacher. She continues to perform in opera and classical music.
