About Mike Harvey
Musician, engineer, and instructor Mike Harvey graduated from Loyola University New Orleans in 2001 with a B.M. in violin and a minor in business, and later earned his M.M. in Jazz Studies from The University of New Orleans in 2010. As an undergraduate at Loyola, Mike worked as a teaching assistant for music technology and recording classes, developing a passion for the recording and technology side of the music industry. After graduating, he worked at New Orleans studios including Stonee’s Studio and Down ‘N’ Dirty Records.
Since 1998, Mike has owned and operated his own recording studio, NOLA Recording Studios, currently located in New Orleans' Mid City neighborhood, and has recorded, edited, mixed, arranged, and produced a variety of music styles and genres, including classical, jazz, heavy metal, hip-hop, indie rock, and film sound. He also frequently performs throughout the region as a violinist and guitarist, including with country band NOLA Country, Orange Kellin's New Orleans Deluxe Orchestra, and his own gypsy swing ensemble, The Courtyard Kings. Mike also serves as lead vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter for Dayjob, an original rock band. In addition to engineering and performing, Mike also teaches a select number of private guitar and violin lessons.
