About Jay Frank
Since 2015, Jay Frank has served as Senior Vice President of Global Streaming Marketing at Universal Music Group. A former executive at CMT and Yahoo! Music, Frank is the founder of both digital-only record label DigSin and DigMark, a digital music marketing firm.
After earning his undergraduate degree from Ithaca College, Frank pursued a career in the music business, first by managing a music venue, and later through programming broadcast radio stations and creating two local music video shows. He worked in marketing and A&R for Ignition Records prior to serving as senior music director for The Box Music Network. Frank joined Yahoo! Music as Vice President of Music Programming and Label Relations and later joined Country Music Television (CMT) as the Senior Vice President of Music Strategy in 2007.
An avid writer and blogger, Frank published Futurehit in 2009, which explores the elements that have traditionally contributed to hit songs, such as available technology, song structure, and instrumentation. His second book, Hack Your Hit, offers inexpensive marketing ideas for musicians utilizing existing social networks.
A proactive participant in the music industry community, Frank sits on the Board of Directors of both the Academy of Country Music and the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, and is a member of NARAS, the CRS Marketing Committee, and Leadership Music Digital Summit. He has spoken extensively about music technology and industry trends at conferences and events including The New Music Seminar, South by Southwest, Canadian Music Week, ASCAP Expo, the Digital Music Forum, and MIDEM, among others.
