Sony A&R representative and FAMIS instructor Jason Root talks about his experiences as a touring drummer in Nashville and within the larger music industry. (10/06/2014).

About Jason Root

Currently in his sixth year with Sony Music Entertainment’s A&R department in Nashville, Jason also performs with many national acts as a live and studio drummer. He has coordinated twelve (12) Grammy®-nominated albums, including five (5) Billboard® Music Award nominations, five (5) GMA Dove Award® nominations, and one (1) RIAA Certified Gold album.

Jason continues to be an active voting member of the Nashville Chapter of The Recording Academy, as well as a member of the Academy’s Producers & Engineers Wing. He is also a professional voting member of the Gospel Music Association and an alumnus of the Society of Leaders in Development.

An alumnus of the music industry studies program at Loyola, Jason earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Industry Studies and minored in Business Administration. He continued his education by earning a Master of Science in Music Technology from the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology. Jason has returned to Loyola to share his wealth of experience, and teaches courses in A&R and Record Label Operations.
