When Ellen Degeneres invited The Revivalists to perform live on her television show on November 29th, she wasn’t just booking an up-and-coming seven-piece New Orleans rock band; she was booking two alumni of Loyola’s Music Industry Studies program: drummer Andrew Campanelli (2009), and keyboardist/trumpeter Michael Girardot (2008).
Since forming in 2007, the New Orleans roots-driven rock band has logged countless miles on the road, cultivating a high octane live show and a studio presence equally steeped in instrumental virtuosity and charismatic vocal magnetism. The band issued two independent releases, Vital Signs in 2010 and City of Sound in 2014, and in 2015 released their third full-length album, Men Amongst Mountains, through Wind-Up Records. Recorded live on tape in just twenty-one (21) days at the iconic Studio in the Country in Bogalusa, LA, Men Amongst Mountains debuted at #2 on the Billboard Alternative Albums Chart and Top 10 on the iTunes Alternative Albums Chart, all while quickly racking up nearly two million plays on Spotify through word-of-mouth. The Revivalists subsequently were profiled in Rolling Stone, NPR, and Nylon, among others, as they launched a sold-out headline tour across the country.
